Roped In

Nautical styling always looks good and as long as you don't take it too literally, you will always be in style. Kathy Misick looked to nautical inspired rope details for her Spring/Summer '08 collection and it turned out surprisingly sexy.

If you're looking for a way to get the same feel for a fraction of the price, turn to Nantucket Knotworks. They sell mostly rope bracelets and key rings, but these two items are more sophisticated while keeping with the theme.

Belt a floaty dress with the Whaler Belt to draw on Kathy Misick's look. The necklace is made out of nylon twine, so it will keep its shape instead of getting tattered and grimy.

Suspender Disbelief

While doing some shopping on ooga booga's online shop I came across these jewelry suspenders by Bless. I'm into them despite the fact that the chance of looking like a jerk while wearing them is pretty high.

On the other hand, it is a chance to channel Erin Wasson's new jewelry line Low Luv.Any step closer to Erin is a step closer to Alexander Wang (she is his muse), so it is a chance I am willing to take. Erin's are definitely a lot cooler than the Bless ones, but either makes a great DIY opportunity. Fun tip: Erin's body is the form for the mannequin we use here in the photo studio at style.com

What are you wearing today?

Sydney Lo has taken this project (usually favored by fashion bloggers) and decided to document what he is wearing every day for one year. He shaved his head so that you can see time pass with the growth of his hair and wears the same jeans in every image to show their wear. He calls it "an exercise in time and digital replication"- I don't know if I buy it, but the images are nice. On show at NYU now.

Geometric Vest

Thanks, mom, for this adorable sweater vest! I hope the great combination of neutrals comes through. I was a bit worried about the tanness of the tan and grayness of the grays in this outfit, but anyway, I'm a fan of mixing the knit sweater with the black and white micro-pattern of the skirt. And my new coat! Equal parts sack and pod--(almost) totally waterproof.

Presenting Anica Boutique

I'm so hooked up to this boutique's regularly updated blog, I basically have it on an IV drip. It updates me every time they get new merchandise from this or that line, or have a sale. Guess which one's my favorite? Not so easy. Anyway, they've recently started adding some new spring items. My eye is stuck on the adorable new offerings from Opening Ceremony. Lots of cutout backs and fitted bodices. Just the right kind of industrial to toughen up the 90s-nostalgic, cute, Virgin Suicides thing they have going on. Observe:

Spring Break on my Mind

While shopping for swimwear for my spring break trip to Miami I could not resist the Pierre Hardy for Gap platforms.

I'm excited to try some new outfits in Miami. I've never been, but I imagine you get fewer second looks than in New York, plus I like playing with warm weather outfits more.

Until it's 80 and sunny in NY, I'll be pairing this exact outfit with my pvc leggings (inspired by Queen Michelle).
*sorry if i look grouchy, midterms still suck
