Etsy find: Kcoline

I don't think I'll ever get tired of high waisted skirts ever. This one has a great print, sexy length, and the pleating detail elevates the cotton jersey fabric.
This dress is a little too specific for my taste, but it is definitely fun and interesting. And as always with these Etsy sellers, you'll very likely be the only girl at the party in this fun dress.

Visit the store here.

AVERT YOUR EYES; TOO PERFECT

Things I would do while wearing this outfit: Grocery shop, send/retrieve the mail, go out on a date, go to a concert or exhibition, pilates, walk my (imaginary) dog, write, shop, climb a tree, drive a car, fly in an airplane, dance, build a shed, wait for instant jell-o pudding to coagulate, research employment/further education opportunities, photoshop, regular shop, go to class, befriend a small child, help the elderly, recycle, drink water, pen a poem, collage, dressage, give a historic tour, tell a ghost story, jump five feet in the air, strut.

Essentially: any tasks both inspired and perfunctory. Ahem --> perFUNKtory.

From Pixie Market.

P.S. This lady's got that kind of outfit down, too. It's pretty remarkable.

Jean Genie

In between work and drinks yesterday I stopped in Armani Exchange after seeing this dress in the window. It is the perfect summertime dress, can be easily worn into fall and never goes out of style. I am also obsessed with dresses that button down the front. This has the best of those worlds and the denim is incredibly soft. I actually like the tie belt that comes with it and with my expansive and ever-growing belt collection I'll be able to create a lot of different looks.

That 70s Aura

Internet Jogging featured Sharon Tingley for their Friday Flickr Feature. Her photographs are all at least 25 years old, and in addition to being interesting prints themselves, capture youth and worldliness in a way that only the texture of vintage photography can.

Blessyooo

Bless is opening a pop-up shop at Ludlow 38! It will be open for three weeks down on the Lower East Side. I'm really excited about it- I was actually just looking around online where I could buy the line. I love their strange recycled materials that are crafted with a wink and a smile. I won't be buying this strange necklace, but I do like the assorted pins, especially this little skarky.

A good place to see some of their designs is Ooga Booga's online shop.

Next Big Thing

Fred Flare's annual Next Big Thing contest is having voting tomorrow to choose the favorite invention. I will be voting for Amanda Goss's hand blown cupcake stand. It's adorable, she's super adorable, and frankly blowing glass blows my mind. Log on here to vote! She's even at the top of the voting list.

Plug: Hayden-Harnett

No more than a few blocks from Elizabeth's and my apartment is Hayden-Harnett, a beacon in Greenpoint, Brooklyn for local designers and accessories mavens alike. The store itself is filled with stylish curios and the kind of quality eclectic furniture that made Elizabeth and I, who are currently furnishing our own apartment, blush. Known for their glamorous handmade bags and youthful clothes, H-H is the perfect stop for those evening-wear investment pieces you might be craving.

Elizabeth found plenty to choose from when it came to everyday shoulder bags, and gravitated toward the Bernardin Day Bag and the Tharpe Hobo in grey.
I myself fell for the Barnard Crossbody and the convertible Pallenberg Duffel because I like to be able to swing my arms around when I walk. Actually, more like flail helplessly, but who's counting? Even in red, the character of the leather comes through.

Of course, both of us could agree on the undeniable charm of these two pieces, the Delancey Clutch in cream--an exercise in understatement with an elegant envelope shape and great detail like subtle gemstone embellishment-- and the Ipanema Framed Clutch Wallet--its sleek and metallic exterior encases an efficient wallet. Together they make quite a striking pair.

Eureka's Satchel

When I was a kid I used to watch a show called Eureka's Castle. It featured a zany cast of plush puppet characters and appealed to my fantasies of medieval dragons and glittering moats. This bag reminds me of dragon scales. It's slightly off-putting, sure, but definitely a unique item.

Safety First

I have these earrings, but in gold and designed by Genevive Jones. They're my absolute favorite earrings and always get a lot of attention, both compliments and confusion. To show off the earrings I suggest wearing one facing one way and one facing the other.
